RESUMO

Nanoscale ferroelectric 2D materials offer the opportunity to investigate curvature and strain effects on materials functionalities. Among these, CuInP2S6 (CIPS) has attracted tremendous research interest in recent years due to combination of room temperature ferroelectricity, scalability to a few layers thickness, and ferrielectric properties due to coexistence of 2 polar sublattices. Here, we explore the local curvature and strain effect on polarization in CIPS via piezoresponse force microscopy and spectroscopy. To explain the observed behaviors and decouple the curvature and strain effects in 2D CIPS, we introduce the finite element Landau-Ginzburg-Devonshire model, revealing strong changes in hysteresis characteristics in regions subjected to tensile and compressive strain. The piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM) results show that bending induces ferrielectric domains in CIPS, and the polarization-voltage hysteresis loops differ in bending and nonbending regions. These studies offer insights into the fabrication of curvature-engineered nanoelectronic devices.

RESUMO

The miniaturization of ion trap mass analyzers is an important direction in the development of mass spectrometers. In this work, we proposed two models of miniaturized HreLIT with a field radius of about 2 mm based on the existing research on conventional HreLIT and other ion traps, one with ions ejection slits on one pair of electrodes only (2-slit model) and the other with the same slits on all electrodes (4-slit model). The relationship of mass resolution with r/rx and the "stretch" distance of electrodes in the ejection direction is investigated by theoretical simulations. Trends of electric fields inside the ion traps were discussed as well. The comparable maximum resolution is observed at r/rx = 2/1.4 in both models, but stretching simulations revealed that the peak resolution of the 2-slit model was higher than that of the other model by about 8%. The highest value of 517 was obtained when stretching 1.1 mm. Furthermore, the resolution of ions with m/z = 119 could exceed 1000 when the scan rate was reduced to 800 Th/s. The mass spectrometry capability of miniature HreLIT has been confirmed theoretically, and it laid the foundation for the subsequent fabrication with MEMS technology.

RESUMO

Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) can convert mechanical energy into electricity and exhibit unique advantages in the field of low-frequency and discrete energy harvesting. However, the interfacial state and stability between the triboelectric layer and electrode layer influence the output and applications of TENG. Herein, an in situ sputtering Ag process for fabricating induction electrodes is proposed to match with TENG. The sputtering Ag process is optimized by a variety of parameters, such as sputtering power, single-cycle time, number of cycles, cycle interval, and vacuum degree. In addition, the chemical state of Ag as a function of air placement is investigated, showing the sputtered Ag has excellent conductivity and stability. Moreover, four kinds of polymers are selected for fabricating TENGs based on the sputtered Ag induction electrodes, i.e., nylon 66, polyimide (PI), fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP), and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), which shows great applicability. Considering the demand of flexible power suppliers, the sputtered Ag is integrated with a PDMS substrate, and shows good adhesion, flexibility, and ductility after severe deformation of the PDMS. Finally, the developed induction electrode processing technology is used in flexible TENG and shows great prospects in self-powered electronics for practical applications.

RESUMO

The working principle of the triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG), contact electrification and electrostatic induction, has been used to harvest raindrop energy in recent years. However, the existing research is mainly concentrated on solid-liquid electrification, and adopts traditional electrostatic induction (TEI) for output. As a result, the efficiency of droplet electricity generators (DEGs) is severely constrained. Therefore, previous studies deem that the DEG output is limited by interfacial effects. This study reveals that this view is inappropriate and, in reality, the output strategy is the key bottleneck restricting the DEG performance. Here, a switch effect based on an electric-double-layer capacitor (EDLC) is introduced, and an equivalent circuit model is established to understand its working mechanism. Without pre-charging, a single droplet can generate high voltage over 100 V and the output is directly improved by two-orders of magnitude compared with TEI, which is precisely utilizing the interfacial effect. This work provides insightful perspective and lays solid foundation for DEG applications in large scale.

RESUMO

With the increasing application field, a higher requirement is put forward for the mass spectrometer. The reduction in size will inevitably cause a loss of precision; therefore, it is necessary to develop a high-performance miniature mass spectrometer. Based on the researches of rectangular ion trap, the relationship between mass resolution and structural parameters of the ion trap array was analyzed by further simulation. The results indicate that, considering the balance of mass resolution and extraction efficiency, the preferable values for the field radius of exit direction y0 and ion exit slot width s0 are 1.61 mm and 200 µm, respectively. Afterwards, a miniature four-channel ion trap array (MFITA) was fabricated, by using MEMS and laser etching technology, and mass spectrometry experiments were carried out to demonstrate its performance. The mass resolution of butyl diacetate with m/z = 230 can reach 324. In addition, the consistency of four channels is verified within the error tolerance, by analyzing air samples. Our work can prove the correctness of the structural design and the feasibility of MEMS preparation for MFITA, which will bring meaningful guidance for its future development and optimization.

RESUMO

Industrial preparation of graphene has been a research hotspot in recent years. Finding an economical and practical carbon source and reducing the cost of production and instrument is significant in industrial graphene production. Coal is a common carbon source. Efficient improvement and utilization in the cleaning of coal has recently been a popular research area. In this study, we developed a set of graphene preparation methods based on Anhui Huainan's low-rank gas coal (HNGC). Using self-built experimental equipment, benzene precursor was prepared from HNGC and used as carbon source to realize graphene growth. The quality of the graphene was characterized by a high-resolution microscope and Raman spectrometer. This study provides a new idea and method for the preparation of low-rank coal-based graphene.

RESUMO

Mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) are the most common targetable alterations in lung adenocarcinoma. To facilitate rapid testing, the Idylla EGFR assay was incorporated as a screening method before next-generation sequencing (NGS). Validation and experience using an in-house developed analysis pipeline, enhanced with a manual review algorithm is described. Results are compared with corresponding NGS results. In all, 1249 samples were studied. Validation demonstrated 98.57% (69/70) concordance with the reference methods. The limit of detection varied from 2% to 5% variant allele frequency for total EGFR quantitation cycle between 20 and 23. Of the 1179 clinical cases, 23.41% were EGFR-positive by Idylla. Concurrent NGS was successfully performed on 94.9% (799/842) requests. Concordance of Idylla with NGS was 98.62% (788/799) and 98.50% (787/799) using our in-house and Idylla analysis pipelines, respectively. Discordances involved missed mutations by both assays associated with low tumor/low input. Incorporating a manual review algorithm to supplement automated calls improved accuracy from 98.62% to 99.37% and sensitivity from 94.68% to 97.58%. Overall reporting time, from receipt of material to official clinical report, ranged from 1 to 3 days. Therefore, Idylla EGFR testing enables rapid and sensitive screening without compromising subsequent comprehensive NGS, when required. Automated calling, enhanced with a manual review algorithm, reduces false-negative calls associated with low tumor/low input samples.

RESUMO

In this paper, two kinds of suspended micro hotplate with novel shapes of multibeam structure and reticular structure are designed. These designs have a reliable mechanical strength, so they can be designed and fabricated on single-layer SiO2 suspended film through a simplified process. Single-layer suspended film helps to reduce power consumption. Based on the new film shapes, different resistance heaters with various widths and thicknesses are designed. Then, the temperature uniformity and power consumption of different micro hotplates are compared to study the effect of these variables and obtain the one with the optimal thermal performance. We report the simulations of temperature uniformity and give the corresponding infrared images in measurement. The experimental temperature differences are larger than those of the simulation. Experimental results show that the lowest power consumption and the minimum temperature difference are 43 mW and 50 °C, respectively, when the highest temperature on the suspended platform (240 × 240 µm²) is 450 °C. Compared to the traditional four-beam micro hotplate, temperature non-uniformity is reduced by about 30⁻50%.

RESUMO

The design and fabrication of a Micro-electromechanical Systems (MEMS)-based tilted microcoil on a polyimide capillary are reported in this paper, proposed for an electromagnetically-driven single-fiber endoscope scanner application. The parameters of the tilted microcoil were optimized by simulation. It is proved that the largest driving force could be achieved when the tilt-angle, the pitch and the coil turns of the designed microcoil were 60°, 80 µm and 20, respectively. The modal simulation of the designed fiber scanner was carried out. The prototypes of the tilted microcoils were fabricated on the surface of polyimide capillary with 1 mm-diameter using our developed cylindrical projection lithography system. The dimensions of the two tilted microcoils were as follows: one was tilt-angle 45°, line width 10 ± 0.2 µm, coil pitch 78.5 ± 0.5 µm, and the other was tilt-angle 60°, line width 10 ± 0.2 µm, coil pitch 81.5 ± 0.5 µm. Finally, a direct mask-less electroplating process was employed to fabricate the copper microcoil with 15 µm thickness on the gold (Au) seed-layer, and the corresponding line width was expanded to 40 µm.

RESUMO

This paper presents a novel MEMS-based inertial microswitch design with multi-directional compact constraint structures for improving the shock-resistibility. Its shock-resistibility in the reverse-sensitive direction to ultra-high g acceleration (~hunderds of thousands) is simulated and analyzed. The dynamic response process indicates that in the designed inertial microswitch the proof mass weight G, the whole system's stiffness k and the gap x2 between the proof mass and reverse constraint blocks have significant effect on the shock-resistibility. The MEMS inertial microswitch micro-fabricated by surface micromachining has been evaluated using the drop hammer test. The maximum allowable reverse acceleration, which does not cause the spurious trigger, is defined as the reverse acceleration threshold (athr). Test results show that athr increases with the decrease of the gap x2, and the proposed microswitch tends to have a better shock-resistibility under smaller gap. The measured responses of the microswitches with and without constraint structure indicates that the device without constraint structure is prone to spurious trigger, while the designed constraint structures can effectively improve the shock-resistibility. In this paper, the method for improving the shock-resistibility and reducing the spurious trigger has been discussed.

RESUMO

This study describes a novel micro sampler consisting of an ultrahigh-aspect-ratio microneedle and a PDMS actuator. The microneedle was fabricated by a new method which introduced reshaped photoresist technology to form a flow channel inside. The microneedle includes two parts: shaft and pedestal. In this study, the shaft length is 1500 µm with a 45° taper angle on the tip and pedestal is 1000 µm. Besides, the shaft and pedestal are connected by an arc connection structure with a length of 600 µm. The microneedles have sufficient mechanical strength to insert into skin with a wide safety margin which was proved by mechanics tests. Moreover, a PDMS actuator with a chamber inside was designed and fabricated in this study. The chamber, acting as a reservoir in sampling process as well as providing power, was optimized by finite element analysis (FEA) to decrease dead volume and improve sampling precision. The micro sampler just needs finger press to activate the sampling process as well as used for quantitative micro injection to some extent. And a volume of 31.5 ± 0.8 µl blood was successfully sampled from the ear artery of a rabbit. This micro sampler is suitable for micro sampling for diagnose or therapy in biomedical field.
